I am looking for a 46-50 somthing inch TV for the living room I should have done here in a little bit. I am currently leaning towards the Toshiba Regza 52" for ~$2k:
Toshiba | 52HL167: 52” Diagonal REGZA® LCD TV

Anybody have any experience with this TV? It ad 5 stars on Amazon and I have not heard anything bad about it. I was looking at Sharp but there were many complaining about banding with the Sharp LCD. The Panasonic Plasma is very nice as well but it uses 2X the power which I calculated will cost about $20/month more in power.

Not completely on topic here but there was a recent thread with ALOT of good info concerning TV's and it can be found HERE.

You may have already read it and if so, I apologize for the redirect.

Yeah I saw the beginning of that one but it is pretty much Samsung. The Toshiba had a little better review on Amazon so I wanted to get some input on them as well.

If I was in the market for a new Toshiba set in the 52" size I'd go straight to the Toshiba 52LX177 52" REGZA™ Cinema Series® 1080p LCD HDTV with 120Hz refresh rate at Crutchfield.com and wouldn't think twice about it.

My favorites about this model.

120 Hz frame rate :sweet
3 HDMI inputs :sweet
ATSC/NTSC & QAM Digital Tuners Built in

If you have a Best Buy or Circuit City nearby swing in and check out the motion/clarity differences between the 120 hz and 60 hz models. With such an investment today I'd spend time looking at em all.:sweet

Well I went to Circuit City today and see why you guys like Samsungs. Nice TV. Especially with the 120 Hz. refresh. They had a demo where half the screen was on and half off and there was quite a difference still not sure how legitimate that test was though. The kid at the store the the Samsung is a close match if not better than the Panasonic plasma and I would have to agree. They were right next to each other so it was easy to compare.

I did not need to see HDDVD next to BluRay to see that BluRay blows HDDVD out of the water. There is a chance it was just the movies but everything I have seen on BluRay is crystal clear and everything I have seen on HDDVD has been better than DVD but a let down for HD.

WOW

Wish this Post woulda been happen'n when we were looking at HDTVs. We're real happy with our 32" Sony Bravia/Bose set up, but now, I wish we had looked a little longer & harder.

But if I'm understanding what I'm reading here.. at the 32-36" screen size, all this 120 verses 60Hz refresh etc. isn't even an option ?

I'm not much of a Audio/Video guy but I WILL into it all a little deeper, next time 'round.:)

There's like 7-8 manufacturers that have their own named 120 hz technology, all are close in price depending on the size that released onto the market in 2007.

The sets that have the 120 hz,it can be turned off in the setup menu so if it gets too lifelike it can be switched to the 60 hz rate.

I think a lot of the comparison only matters if you have 2 TVs next to each other, without that you are likely to be able to tell. I have a Vizio 32" that looks awesome with the VGA out of my laptop. Not great with SD Dish but SD Dish is junk anyway. Right now much of it seems to be how they handle crappy content. Hopefully we will have good feeds in the near future.

I need more internet bandwidth and Hulu needs to get more/some HD content so I can ditch Dish. Right now my DSL cannot even support their SD stuff and unfortunately it does not seem to buffer.
