Members,
For those that have been to the past rallies we have had at Lake Texoma, You will know the location I am talking about.
The Spillway is on the Left as you are going to Eisenhower State Park, and it is where we used to take pictures each year, Here is a few,
North Texas Power Stroke Association Photo Gallery - 09-01-2001 2nd Annual Power Stroke Rally/mcv-787f
North Texas Power Stroke Association Photo Gallery - 06-01-2002 3rd Annual Power Stroke Rally/On the way to Sonic!
North Texas Power Stroke Association Photo Gallery - 04-25-2003 4th Annual Power Stroke Rally/dscn4038
North Texas Power Stroke Association Photo Gallery - 05-01-2004 5th Annual Power Stroke Rally/MVC-341X
The Spillway was built when Lake Texoma was built back in 1944 (unofficially opened).
It serves as relief if the lake gets too high and the dam can’t relive enough water. It is only supposed to spill over once every 100 years but has spilled over 2 times since opening, 1957 and 1990. (these has been reports of a 1945 spill but I can not find any record of this)
Currently the road that those pictures where taken on is under water!!!!!!
And the Water level is at elevation 639.75 feet on Friday 06Jul07 Time: 0900 hours.
Top of the Spillway is 640 Feet!!!!!!!
This is the latest from the Corps o
Forecast crest at 641.50' on July 9th. Spillway expected to reach capacity (and begin to overflow) on July 6th. If heavy rain falls upstream; then these figures will have to be revised upward. This forecast was issued by the Army Corps of Engineers at 9:30a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2007

This is a pic from when it happened in 1990
This just released also.
From news release:
In the interest of public safety: the area near the spillway, South of the inundated boat ramp and parking lot is now a restricted area.
No boating, swimming, wading, or access of any kind is allowed until the lake level recedes!
"Boats Keep Out" buoys will be placed as soon as possible and will be strictly enforced by Texas Game Wardens and the Corps of Engineers.
No Trespassing signs will be posted and enforced as well. No one is allowed on the spill way structure nor in the water near the spillway.
Viewing of the spillway area is still available from the Texoma Overlook.
