My brother has an 05 Excursion, 6.0 diesel. Yesterday we were on our way back home running on the interstate about 75mph on cruise. As he was comeing up on traffic he pressed the brake to release the cruise and the truck just shut down.

We had it carried to the local Ford dealer and was told it lost oil pressure.

The part was said to be $53.00 and the labor would be around $800.00 as the turbo had to be taken off.

Since we were about 300 miles from home we had a friend tak our rollback down and pick the excursion up and as we speak it is on it's way home.

Any thoughts.

sounds like the STC fitting on the high pressure oil pump came apart, common issue on the 6.0L. Best route to take is tear it down to check the STC fitting condition and replace as needed.
