ummmmm, Jody already beat you to more than 6 programs on a chip?

F5 1-16 Position Switch on the fly Chip - Featured Products

you are assuming that all the traces on the chip are switchable- i do not believe that they are. 2-3 of them are connected in series with the chip wiring.

1. your speedo reads 2-3 mph slower by design so you can not use the speedo as an excuse to get out of tickets. they NEVER read 100%, they are always slower. check any car you want, they are all slow.

2. you put 1000 pounds of weight on the front end of your truck. what do you think it does to the aerodynamics and fuel economy?

I have seen his 16 pos chip....and the price tag. I can get out cheaper by buying another chip, like the one I found. I was wanting to make all of the circuits, between each chip, able to switch.

1. My speedo was reading about 76.... I got clocked doing 83. Cop said anything 82 and under, he wouldnt have pulled me over (yea right)

2. Bumper weighs about 300 more pounds than my stock bumper. I know its more weight, but it protects from my deer friends....which is the reason why I had to replace the oem bumper.

Thanks DP

Your Odometer is off because your speedometer is off more than likely due to your large tires, obviously. On the 7.3's the speedometer is not controlled by the ecm. It is just a wire going to the t-case to a speed sensor right to the speedometer. That is why just a simple flash can't adjust it and why the tuners can't adjust it. Superlift makes an add on module that adjusts the pulse of the of the speed sensor between the t-case and the speedometer. Here is a link to one. Its a little expensive though. I don't know if you can change the little speed gear in the t-case like you can in the NP-231 t-case that is in my jeep but those little gears are only like $30
SUPERLIFT SUSPENSION TRUSPEED CUSTOM-FIT SPEED SENSOR CALIBRATOR - JCWhitney

And in fact the faster you go the farther off your odometer will be.

I thought that was the OBS design?..or something like that. I have been told by several people that programmers, and even AE, can recalibrate the PCM for different size tires:dunno

My buddy had a superduty and I know he said he had stacked chips?? Is that the same as running 2 chips? Of course he blew the truck up but I think thats what was on his. Im leanin towards gettin a chip and that Dp F5 looks pretty sweet!

I think its a mix of a programmer with a chip. And DP said it well, it's overkill with very little (if any) gain.

They can recalibrate it just for the tuner to use but it can't effect the speedometer or tripometer. Other trucks and newer Superdutys they can reflash the speedometer input to effect the speedometer and trip. Just not on the 7.3 trucks.

the superlift truspeed is applicable for the Superduty trucks up to 2006 see the application guide here
Which is one way of doing it

The OBS trucks with the 7.3 used an electronic speedo off the rear diff just like the SD trucks did so there is no gears to change out

I can say that on the OBS trucks there is a way to access the PSOM (programmable speedometer odometer module) to change the calibration to reflect the tire size that you are currently running you are limited to 7 changes IIRC. You may want to search for something like this for correcting the speedo and odometer on your truck.

As for stacking the chips. If you aren't happy with what you have now then talk to the programmer and see what they will do to make you happy or get it flashed by someone else. The way to get the best performance is live tuning.

Thanks BJS, I think I'm going to go with truspeed when I get the $$$. I have been talking to some other guys and they say AE can change the prgramming in the ABS module, but I am limited up to 6 chances to get it close. Also what I have gotten from everyone else, PSOM is an OBS adjustment only:doh:. I would LOVE to get some live tuning, but there again...$$$$. Trying to ease off some spending on my truck and focus in some other areas.

the only chips you want to stack are Pringles. on a ford if you buy a REAL chip you only need to do it once.
:lmao:lmao:lmao

BTW there is a way to recalibrate the speedo up to something like 4 times, IIRC. I think I read it on a TransferFlow (Aux fuel tank company) instruction sheet. But I like the GPS route anyhow. It is certainly accurate 'nuff.

Nerd alert: dizzy:dizzy:dizzy Random thoughts on mpg calculations to compare different programs:
For an extreme example, assume your odometer is off by 10 miles in 100 miles shown on the display (you really ran 110 miles but since it is reading low, it shows 100 miles). You ran program #x and burned 10 gal of fuel, so you got 10 mpg indicated and 110/10 or 11 mpg actual. Change to program #y, repeat the "100" mile run. You burned 5 gal instead, so you got 20 mpg indicated or 110/5 = 22 mpg actual. If you used actual readings then program #y improved mpg by 10 mpg but it was really 22-11 = 11 mpg. No big difference. And if you just deal with % change, it is the same improvement right? From 10 mpg to 20 mpg is 100% better [(20-10)/10] and from 11 mpg to 22 mpg is also 100% better. So stick with % and don't sweat the odometer error.

Oh, and if you find a program #y like the one above that gives 100% improvement, pullleeeease share! :coffee:lmao:lmao

The problem with the GPS deal is I never drive far enough to get a real reading, or it tries to re-route me from the way I want to go.

Just wondering, I never let my fuel get below 1/3 of a tank.... but how many gallons can you pack into a tank? I guess what I need to know is, how many gallons do ya'll use in your formula to figure up fuel milage. Thanks
