twenty-two years I've lived here, with never a thought about locking a door..
yesterday, three of four vehicles sitting in the driveway got broken into.. at 4:00 in the afternoon with both dogs "on duty"
I had a "chat" with the canines...
Magellan and cd's taken from Subaru..
cd's, gloves, and CB taken from Silverado
CB taken from my truck...
so I just ordered jimmi-jammers.. too bad no one talked me into ordering them a year ago..
here's the kicker...
in the Subaru.. purse and cell phone left on the seat...
in the Silverado.. cell phone left in the console... three thousand dollars of equine dentistry tools left in the bed...
in my truck.. Bowie knife and survival hatchet left in the door... $18.00 in change left in the flip-down..
it gets better..
the door to the garage was OPEN...
two saddles, my .223 and my cool little Ruger 10-22 Mannlicher sitting RIGHT THERE in the middle of the garage floor (although obscured by six months of GARBAGE generated by a wife who can't decide if the wants to move or not)..
we call the Sherrif... deputy was one of the nicest, stand-up guys I have ever seen, in or out of Law Enforcement.. says, "...I can already tell you who took the stuff.. but I can't prove it.. you know who it is too.. we're at their house all the time, matter of fact, I've been there twice already today..."
this evening, I saw the kid and a buddy of his walking down the street... took all I had to not, uh, "let the steering wheel slip" as I drove by...
