I owe thanks to someone else for making me get up off my butt and go do this. I went out in my drive way and lowered my spare to check the pressure and give it a good cleaning. I'm glad I did, tire pressure was ten psi low I left it ten high. It is nice to go through the motions when there's no stress (as in,on the side of the road with traffic flying by at 80) so you know exactly what to do. Just a reminder for all those planning their camping trips to check that spare. HTH

I checked mine last summer and found that the pressure was very low(hadn't checked it for years)but what I found worse than the pressure was the dry-rot. The sidewall looks like it is 50 years old although it is only 20 years old. I should change it out one of these days but it is hard to throw away a tire that has never been used:( It was my spare for this truck and three others but I have never had to use it.

I use the spare as part of my regular rotation....
but in the excursion I don't do the changing...
and I DO keep a can of the BIG tire fix a flat JUST in case....

Never liked the stuff... but my wife is not going to change that tire, but she does know how to put in the fix a flat to get her somewhere....
