JURY DUTY SCAM

This has been verified by the FBI (their link is included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity just got stolen. The scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois, and Colorado. This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the pho ne to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they're with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud. Check it out here:

heres something that you might find interesting....

jury duty "summons" come via the US MAIL...and they ARE NOT
sent registered mail...so theres no WAY for the court to PROVE
you ever recv'd the "request"

True, Bush. Even better, they will usually release registered or certified mail to anyone who shows up with the card. And if you didn't sign the pick-up card, there's still no proof that you received the documents. :sly

But do you want to appear before the Judge with a Court Summons? Just go and hope for the best.

That is good to know. Some jerk off showed up at my house trying to collect taxes for some years ago that supposedly wern't paid. He wouldn't give me any ID, so I got law enforcement involved, otherwise I would have.

Just call me Don <hangemhigh> R.

Personally i think if corporal punishment were performed a bit
more expeditiously we'd see a CONSIDERABLE drop in crime !

It would probably NOT come as a surprise to know that I also
subscribe to the "school" of "leave no witnesses" to testify
against me...I dont shoot to wound or scare anyone off...that
only makes trials more lengthy (and i dont wanna waste tax payer
money).
