Joined a biodiesel coop today

For working members $3.50/gal (that's me). Non-working members $3.75/gal. BUT, #2 is selling for $3.29 locally and rising daily. I expect by next month B-100 will be cheaper at the coop. My reasons for joining are numerous. No noxious fumes, off of the big oil grid, higher cetane, benefits the local economy and better lubricity. Soon they'll start phasing in the new low sulfur #2 which will need some additives. I expect by that time many more will be using biodiesel.

I would question the cost? Do you get to share in the profits? 3.50 is high in my veiw.
Wonder what feedstock they are using to claim high ctane? Normally, #2 is higher than say Soy feed stock BD.

Rick, EVERYTHING is more expensive in California. -mad I've seen B-100 for as high as $4.19 No profit sharing at the coop. They prefer to sell WVO as a feedstock for eco-friendly reasons, but if unavailable they will buy processed SVO. Until I decide if I want to make my own, this is my best option. Time will tell.

Is there a limit per member/consumption ? 1,000 gal/year, but if you go over there is no penalty because many members drive fuel efficient vehicles ie TDIs & Mercs and use much less.

Can you operate on 20 gallons a week? I can but most guys can't.

I work 12 miles from home, but NOPE!!! I have the card in my wallet should I need to buy it from Yokayo or other locations. I plan on driving less...NOT!

B100 update. Now that warmer weather is here the B100 in my tank is not cloudy anymore...it's clear. IMO it runs even better in warmer weather. Daytime temps have been between 70*F & 80*F and about 50*F at dawn.
