I read somwhere that either the 2 or 3 told you when it was doing it, maybe not. I am only on my 3rd tank of fuel and I think it has regened 3 times but I'm not certain. How long does it normally last?:dunno

Yes, I'm pretty sure there is a flash that will allow you to know when your truck is going/doing a regen. It might not have come out right as the Job 2 trucks came out, it might have come out a little later, call up your dealer and ask them about the reflash to find out.

A regen is kinda a hard thing to gauge on how long it lasts. I would bet its a good two minutes. If you dont have the reflash that tells you when your in a regen, then this is how you can figure it out. When idling after sitting for a minute or two, the truck will idle up to about 1000 rpm's. Or when your driving around, and your fuel economy goes down then your in a regen LOL, seriously though during a regen your boost levels will be on the low side.

I knew about those symptoms but every time it goes in to regen up until today, I almost immediately got on to the freeway so it's hard to tell. Today, it smoked like crazy for about five minutes then I had to shut it off to go into a meeting. After that I came out and drove a few miles and noticed it going to regen again. I let it idle for at least 15 minutes and gave up because of another meeting. Honestly, I think this "clean exhaust" is a bunch of B.S.! I'm going to let the dealership reflash it one time and then probably get rid of all the DPF and get a programmer to get rid of the regen.:rant

I understand, I suppose a regen can last that long. Whenever I've been around our 08 regening, we always just let it do it while were driving, and I dont think they have let it idle through its regen.

And yes, that would be the great EPA saying that we have to have less polluting diesel's, and yet by something like 2020 all vehicles have to get like 30+ mpg. If you want to complain, complain to them cause there the ones that are having these new trucks have DPF's cause of emmisions. Its BS, and to be honest it doesnt even look good on paper, there just a bunch of dumb arses.

I'm sure if one of the EPA guys saw my truck they would be disgusted as I leave a big cloud of black smoke as I just let out the clutch to get rolling :D.

More of the same....put a bandaid on it and hope everybody forgets about it.

I'm trying to find out how reliable the programmers and turbo back exhausts are on the 6.4. I don't want to trade regen for constant codes.

I havent heard of any of them throwing codes. But when something does go wrong, forget about Ford paying for the fix.

I think you have to go to the dealer and get it from them or have them instal it. I dont remember how much it cost though.[/QUOTE]

I Just ordered a lower valance from the job 3 trucks for my truck (it will be here saturday) it is a job 1. It was 96.00 from the dealer. We will see if it gets the 1-2 mpgs.

You will need 5 of the same bolts that hold the outer edges on also.
