After sitting for about two weeks, I finally put a new/low mile turbo in the truck. The day after I received it, I completely disassembled it to get the shaft and wheels out. They were balanced yesterday morning. Upon putting it back together, it would not spin. Took apart just to see a ring destroyed. Back to the turbo shop, a half hour drive, for a $13 ring. Back home, together, correctly now, time to remove old turbo.
Whatabudro directions were very good, except for how to remove the clip from the EBPV. Easy clip that slids toward the drive side of the truck.
Once the new turbo was in the truck, I messed around trying to get it installed for over two hours. What I learned:
Place the turbo on the pedestal but do not put the bolts in. This allows enough play to get the clamps on the up and down pipes. Can't tell you how many time it took me to get this. Bolt, unbolt, bolt, unbolt. Also it was easier to reconnect the EBPV to the rod first. A little angle on the turbo as you place it let it grab the rod and go right into place.
Sorry this was long, but thought someone could benefit some from it.
It is GREAT to have the truck back.
