I am starting to think that there is something seriously wrong with me lately... I am getting more and more paranoid about my truck, that and the voices in my head are getting louder...

Driving to work this morning, I * thought * I smelled anti-freezey smell from the heat. GF was in the truck and saw me looking curious- asked if I was OK, I told here i had too much coffee....

So for 20 miles of Chicago's finest traffic until I could park I was sitting there trying to diagnose what I had worked on recently and what I might have not tightned down or what could be suspect, second guessing myself the whole way only to find that once I popped the hood, everything looked fine. I looked over the coolant filter, the t-stat, I even crawled under the radiator to check the petcock. The degas bottle showed the coolant level to be fine (i think). I will check again before I leave.

So am I just crazy or is anyone else this overprotective?

:roflmao.............

I really get that way after I have worked on something. Kind of like that "hmmmm, what did I screw up this time" feeling. But if you had an anti-freeze smell in the cab take a look at your heater core.

Try tearing down one of your injectors, you'll hear all kinds of strange noises:eek:

On mine, I could slightly smell anti-freeze in the cab when the radiator started cracking at the top hose connection. The coolant was dripping into the fan and blowing back. Hopefully it was just the guy ahead of you with a blown head gasket:D

Imagine that....here I've been too embarassed to admit I'm scared to death something is going to screw up on my truck. But, I'm a first time diesel owner with only two months under my belt in this truck. That's my excuse.

Before I bought it, I knew enough about Super Duties I could have hired on as a wholesale buyer. Shame I didn't inform myself beforehand about all the technical/mechanical stuff.

Sir you have what is known as: PMS

Powerstroke Modification Syndrome

The symptoms include:

Removing functional working parts from your truck.

Adding more expensive and better working parts to your truck.

Doing things to your truck you may not be qualified to do.

Watching a stupid TV show with voices in your head distracting you to work on your truck.

Hearing noises while engine is running, that have always been there, but now seem different after something you did.

This list goes on but I hate typing.

What can you do about it?

a) Sell the truck.

b) Choose to live with it.

Not much of a choice huh?

Its not as dangerous as the other pms, but its still can get out of control.

Turn the stereo up and quit smelling stuff inside your truck. I hunt. My family knows that smelling things inside my truck could very well end up with unfortunate results. :roflmao

If something goes wrong, man, you'll know it. Trust me on this. Powerstrokes do not die quiet deaths. Just quit worrying and enjoy the pull...

We had over 18" of rain from Christmas on and I noticed a few drips of moisture on the rubber floor mat under the glove box. I was 100% sure my heater core was leaking. nope When my EBPV is working on frosty mornings I'm sure a few injectors are not firing.wrong again When my fan clutch engages I think my engine is about to explode strike three. ...and I've driven it for 120K :D

Nothing wrong with you, these are normal sensory perceptions and will only highten the longer you own your truck and the more you do to it.

If something goes wrong YOU WILL know it immediately, your hearing, smell, the slight tingling you get when something isn't quite right will kick in.

I call it Powerstroke Sensory Development grasshopper :roflmao
