OK I am new here with a few questions.
First a little about my truck;
It is an 04 F250 Super Duty Diesel with 37k miles.
I bought it about a month ago and have been working on it ever since.. lol
When I bought the truck it had the Banks 6-gun, and Banks exhaust on it. After I bought it a few of my friends that know a little about diesels told me the things to look out for. But it was a little to late as it already had some problems. It was blowing coolant out of the overflow bottle when you got on the truck. So I ordered an installed the Liberator kit and it still did it. Next it was to the dealer to have it checked out. They said they couldn't check it out until I took the Liberator kit off. So I took the kit off and brought her back to the dealer where I bought the truck. So they tested the truck out and said that the EGR cooler was bad and it also had blown head gaskets. A Ford rep came down and denide the warantee due to the Banks 6-gun. So we came to an agreement that I would pay no more than 3k out of my pocket and they would take care of the rest. I bought the ARP Head studs and gave them them to install at the same time. They are putting new Heads, Gaskets, and EGR cooler on the truck. When I get it back I will be putting back on the Liberator kit and be looking for a SCT tuner to get rid of the EGR code.
So with all that said would an SCT tuner be right for me? Should I stack it with the Banks 6-gun or just remove the 6-gun and sell it and just use the SCT tuner?
I did forget to mention that I did buy and install the Banks intercooler and Ram air intake..
Thanks for your replies..

IMO, i think with some proper custom tuning you can`t beat SCT. i am not saying the Bank`s is no good, there are some members who use it.
i wouldn`t suggest on stacking them, not on 6.0l, plus it is not needed....hope this helps

nice looking Mustang.....:sweet

I have an 04 F350 with a custom tuned SCT. The SCT has been on the truck for about 20,000 miles with no problems. Keith

PLEASE, DO NOT STACK IT!!

That being said, I have the Banks Six-Gun and Speed Loader w/PDA. I have no complaints about it, I love the on the fly adjustability. I too, blew my HG's with it on.

I will hopefully be swtiching to an SCT with custom tunes, and selling the 6-gun in a couple of months. You can't beat a custom tuned SCT for the 6.0, except for maybe the Spartan Phalanx, but that is still TBD, as it's still being beta tested. Spartan used to use the SCT, and offers there SCT tunes for free on there web site, but is now switching over to there new Phalanx tuner, which they think will prove to be better as it will tune you're FICM as well, the SCT can't.

I just purchased a six gun they were on sale for $499, also got the speed loader for $104, for now, then maby the pda and the after cooler.
Just courious on the head gasket was this blown because of a load being towed or a heavy foot, or just no reason? :sly. Got some gauges coming also.
I bought a Banks system because it really sounded like a good product.
I like the no smoke kind.;tu

Ford Can't deny you from the warranty if you purchased the truck used with the banks 6 gun on it from a Ford Dealer. They also have to prove to you in writing that the Banks was the problem, and that Ford is not having the same problem with other Ford trucks. Ford has had a real problem with the 6.0 blowing head gaskets and EGR coolers. The Ford dealers around me have stated that all 6.0 are going to blow the EGR coolers and head gaskets. it's just a matter of time. Ford is just hoping that most 6.0 truck owners will get passed their 100,000 mile warranty before their head gaskets blow. I have friends that work at a Ford dealer. Be careful when you use a reprogrammer, if you go into Ford for work they will do updates to your trucks computer and scramble your computer so your reprogrammer will not work. Get a good Lawyer it is cheeper than paying for the repairs.

That's a great theory!! Most here are aware of the Mossey-Ferguson act, but good luck getting it enforced. The Tuners due put more stress on the motor, causing things to happen quicker than they might have without the increased HP.

And if you think Ford cares wether the 6gun was on the truck when he bought it or not, then you are in for a rude awakening. It doesn't matter who, when or where it was put on, if it's there, they can deny the warranty. However there are some mod friendly dealers out there that will overlook things.

I do have a heavy right foot, and I think that contributed to it. I don't know specifically what caused it, my truck had Puked on several occasions before, and i didn't worry about it to much, it was when my EGR cooler ruptured, and I was blowing white smoke as thick as fog, that I took it in, and was told about the HG's being blown too. my dealer was VERY mod friendly, I didn't take out ANYTHING, it went in with the 6-gun installed and all, not a word was mentioned about it, I did however inform them of the mods on the phone before taking it in.

And as far as no smoke goes, Mine may not smoke like crazy, but under full throttle launches, it puts out a good sized black cloud, and at speed, a dark smoke haze behind me. No smoke, is a myth

Thanks for the reply I was just courious, I do have mine installed now, Not as impressed as I thought it was gonna be. But it does work good and it does smoke quite abit under load, I do like the extra power on the interstate not as much shifting on the hills.
Mine has and does puke a very little bit out of the deg bottle but I thought it was because it is at the max line on the bottle just never drained any out to see if it would stop. Only a few drop now and then.
