:thumbs :thumbs
nice set up
and hot coffee to boot
the idea wheel is in full spin, i have room in my bed tool boxes for the inverter and batteries. I also figured the 2500 and three batteries to be just under 500 lbs. i am close to my weight penalty in rv now so the truck box may pan out as a better option
a battery islolatr and a shore power recharge , plus a pull from the truck alt would probably do well
i need to run a chart on actual a/c run time versus constant.
once the coach is cooled down the ac would cycle as needed so the full 2500 would only be periodic vers. constant
thanks
I fell my wallet collapsing now
i need to runover to west marine

Joe -

The 0/0 will be just fine. It may not fit into the inverter lugs but that's okay. Trim just enough off of the strands to get it to fit. You will want the inverter as close to the batteries as possible.

Robert -

West Marine carries an in-house brand that is made by Portawattz - can't go wrong there if you can find one to fit the bill. I'm just not sure and or up on it if the A/C is going to last long enough on the inverter - but they rated to run freezers and the such so I guess with enough batteries. . . .

You are most likely going to need a shore charger to handle the re-charge quickly.

And oh yeah - that battery isolater to handle that many batteries is going to smack your wallet real good. I'd try to work out a setup without using one -

yep i was surfing at the west matine found the portwatz and prowatt 2500
rated at 3000 for 5 min and 5k surge
719 buckaroos weighs 25 pounds and has a remote panel plus a 120 volt hardwire output channel
and going by thier suggested battery size i would need at least a batterybank capable of handling 400 amp hours just for half load for two to three hours.... we may be rapidly putting the feasibilty right out the window as far as cost of batteries and all versus LP gas for the generator, evn now a small diesel in bed generator is sounding more economical
i can buy alot of propane for 719 dollars
my 6500 watt lp gen burns under load just under 7 lbs an hour
maybe a large propane tank under the truck bed with a flex conncetion to the rv
i think i may have opened a big can of worms

Well - one more thing - go to the Portawattz website - somewhere in there is a link to the refurbished equipment. That's how I bought mine. Looked brand new when I got it, full warranty, and it's now over 5 years old. Really good savings verse brand new.

And I should mention that I ummm - by mistake of course - did hook it up backwards one time - it was dead dead. Opened up the case and there was like 10-12 20amp fuses soldered on the board. I replaced them all and she runs great still.

I have considered putting one of these quick disconnects on the rear inner fender of my truck so I could use My inverter back there.

It is really handy when you need A/C power in a remote location.
