just got back from

the scene of the crime

eldest daughter rearended a Jeep on her way to work this morning..
so she had her first car accident and got her first ticket ..

pulling out to lead the tow truck to the house..
Deputy comes running over and stops me, says

your brake lights aren't working. I just gave your daughter a ticket; tell me why I shouldn't give you one.

so each one of us got cited..
and now, I have to fix my brakelights so I can have Crash Craddock take me to work so she can do her stuff...

Boy, as if dealing with the wreck wasn't enough (not to mention repairs, tickets, possible lawsuits, etc., etc), then they give YOU a ticket too??? I agree w/ Dogman, any normal compassionate human woulda just told you to fix your tail lights (wink wink) and let you go! What a TOOL!

Hope your kid's ok. Probably just scared her to death and hurt her pride more than anything. If she's like we were growing up... she was more afraid of telling you than the cops!

so each one of us got cited..
and now, I have to fix my brakelights so I can have Crash Craddock take me to work so she can do her stuff...

UPDATE:
this is good...

brake lights was a blown fuse...
we empty out her truck, I call the tow service back to have it hauled to the body shop..

we meet the tow truck at the shop and go in to start the paperwork and write the estimate..

half hour later, we walk out the door..
who is sitting at the light on the corner right on front of the shop? The Deputy from earlier in the morning.

I flag him down and show him my brakelights are working now..
he says, "I asked your daughter if she thought she deserved a ticket, she said yes, because it was her fault (which it was) so I cited her for failure to drive with caution rather than failure to stop, so she gets a 1 pointer rather than 3 points"

hey, that's awesome.

"...and seeing as how it looks like it took you about ten minutes to fix the brakelights, give me the citation, I'll sign off on it"

so it could have been worse..
