My post the other day was in the 911 forum. I ran the pickup a lot this weekend, still won't idle below 1100 rpm. It will idle cold but once warmed up it dies. This morning I checked fuel bowl, looked clean. Pulled valve covers, harnesses all looked and felt tight. I was looking at the injectors, they are all AD but the back on the drivers side, it's AE. Last I knew that was the #7 cylinder. From what I've read the AE is supposed to go in #8. Are Powerstrokes different and would that cause my problems. Thanks for any input.

Never Mind

Did some research this evening, I didn't know Ford's had different cylinder numbering. New to the Ford scene. Always had Chevy's and gassers. The only diesels I have worked on have been 3406 Cat's and 855 Cummins. Tommorow I am getting a pressure gauge to see if my fuel pressure is where it should be.

Welcome to the site, Glad you figured out the cylinder numbering.

I doubt that you have a fuel pressure problem since it is an electric fuel pump they are usually all or none.

I would honestly suspect some problem with the high pressure oil system. I would suspect ICP sensor out of range to start with then possibly an IPR problem but doubtful.

Are you having to manually keep the idle above 1100 or is the computer keeping it there for you. If the computer is doing it then you may have a fuel pedal/Idle validation switch.

Thanks for the reply Brandon,

It will idle for a few minutes until the engine temp raises then it dies. After it is warm I have to pull start and manually hold the throttle above 1100 rpm. I watch the tach pulling, and it won't even try to fire until I get over 1000 rpm. It is also very doggy, no power.

I have been working in this when I have time. So far I've shimmed the fuel pressure to 62 lbs, replaced the o-rings on the IPR, replaced the starter and batteries. Still won't start with the starter, not even a hint of smoke from the tailpipe. We have to pull start and won't fire until it reaches around 800 rpms. It will then idle untill it warms up then dies. We can pull start again, but won't idle below 800 rpm. I have a new IPR and ICP on the way. I am thinking maybe the HPOP in not making enough pressure to fire the injectors below 800 rpm. I checked the HPOP reservoir when it dies and it is full. Any ideas
