I have an injector that is leaking down after the truck sits overnight. The dealer want's way to much money to fix the problem and he is only going to change the one. I would like to do this myself and spend the labor money on all 8 injectors. Now my question is how hard are they to change as far as the accessibility factor. Where is the best place to get injectors and will it be to my advantage to install some modified injectors? Also are the stock ones rebuildable and able to be modified? If I can rebuild the stock ones, what is the average time it would take?

Thanks
Scott

What exactly is the procedure to check for a leaking injector anyway? I assume it's leaking fuel?

I'm thinking I might have one or something that's leaking fuel.. as it's showing up in the oil at about 1.7%... I'd like to get it squared away now... before something gets taken out...

I have no clue how they check it. As a matter of fact, my last oil analisys was good with very little fuel in the oil. I have to pull the readings and see what the exact numbers were but I do remember that they weren't anything significant. Now I am starting to wonder if I really do have an injector leaking down?

When the truck sets overnight, whether it is 30 degrees or 70 degrees, the engine runs rough. The symptoms are the same as when you don't plug in the heater and it gets down below 30 degrees. I took her into the shop to get everything checked out and the results were that the number 2 injector on the passenger side is leaking down. Now what does this mean? I don't have a code reader and there are no codes on my paperwork so I have no idea if it is even throwing codes. I had an issue just before I changed the oil and that was that the truck would not restart after going in to a store to get something to drink. This has since stopped after the oil change. I don't know what caused that nor do I know if the 2 are related. Any help would be appreciated. Oh yeah, after the truck warms up she runs great.

I'd start by getting the newest reflash that heats the injectors, not the one that buzzes them on shutdown.
Never heard of an injector "leaking down" what is leaking, fuel or oil??? Sounds like dealer :bs

Thats why I was asking, I didn't understand the leaking down either. As far as the TSB goes, will Ford charge me for this since I am out of warranty? I am at 107K.

Thanks

The reflashes are not covered by warranty, Ford says they are, but they don't pay them...
Shouldn't cost you more than .5 to 1.0 hr of tech time.
