Injector Miss - Oil spout Oddity

I've been chasing down a miss for quite a while. Several months back, I noticed that the passenger side wiring harness was burnt, so I replaced all of the stuff on that side. Still a miss.

Today, I had some time to tear into the truck, and ran it without the valve covers. Passenger side looks good -- all of the oil spouts going the same amount, basically.

Drivers side a different story, though. The front-most injector doesn't spit ANY oil...the third one spits only a small amount. I tried switching the harnesses front to back, and it gave the same results...leading me to believe it's a problem with those two injectors (and the miss likely from the front).

Now for my questions: Is it likely that the solenoid on the front one is bad? Can I replace the solenoid without pulling the injectors? What about the third one...I'm assuming that the solenoid is OK (could be weak, I guess)?

swap solenoids with a good injector and see what happens. if the deadness follows the solenoid, thats your problem. if it stays with the cylinder, you may have a bad harness or other issue.

If you have the solenoid off, check the poppet screw underneath the solenoid to make sure it is not loose. Loose poppet screws will cause a miss (been there done that on #7 injector on my truck more than once ... and may be loose again). A ground-down 4mm socket can sort of work to tighten it in a pinch, but the #8 linehead socket (I think it's #8) works better after tapping it down on the screw for a better fit. Cheers!

Patrick wins this one...that's sure enough what my problem was. very loose. I tightened it as best I could with the 4MM socket, couldn't really get a good hold on it. I've done some reading, I'll be calling Mylex Intl tomorrow to see about ordering replacement screws with TORX heads on them. I wasn't really pleased with how tight I was able to get them...I feel like I'll be doing it again in a short time.

It only took me about an hour to fix it...sure wish I'd have done this sooner. She purrs like a kitten again, thanks, fellas.
