Well.....found the screen..it was not on the tube, but instead at the bottom of the tank. The tank was however full of junk, so gonna clean that out too...What are the chances of needing to replace the whole assembly since the screen was not on the tube?????

you [could] just put the screen back on and re-install everything.. but.. with no screen.. the whole fuel delivery system, from the pick=up tube, to the fuel filter needs to be flushed & cleaned. with No screen, it probably Full of the JUNK. Again...now would be the time to fix those fittings and cut off the vent tube..

Yer Call though....:dunno

Had you ever worked on, or been around yer Dads truck ???

Have there been any aftermarket upgrades done to it ???

No aftermarket mods that I am aware of.

Would you run fuel system cleaner through it all or take it all apart and flush with ___???

Here's the Short but $$$ way. (best to have a helper)

Clean & Dry the tank REAL good.

Reinstall & Reconnect everything.

Buy 2/3 fuel filters. (to start with) (the $$$ part)

Put in 5 gallons of fresh fuel and a jug of fuel system cleaner. (per the ratio spec)

Open the Fuel Filter Drain Valve. (have a catch can inplace)

Turn the key on.. but Do Not Start The Engine. then....

Using a Shop Vac.. in Blow Mode.. put pressure on the tank to help prime the fuel pump, and lines, to purge any air out.. Pump til' you see fuel, no bubbles, coming out of the fuel filter drain valve.

Close the drain valve and Start the engine. (it may run rough but it'll clear up)

Drive it..... to go fill the fuel tank.

Then be ready to change fuel filters OFTEN.. until the fuel system cleaner.. cleans things up.

Joe

There's a cheaper way but it's more Labor intensive.

UPDATE!!
After dropping the tank, found screen was floating in the bottom of the tank. There was a ton of black "junk" in the bottom of the tank, including a few rocks?? Got everything put back together, took fuel lines apart, blew out with the air compressor...5 gals of fuel, started...ran for a while...15 more gallons and a bottle of lucas....Runs great!!! Gonna run for a few days and change out the filter....

Thanks for the help...
