I see the numbers "6.15.2006"-- does that mean anything?
Heeeere's your sign....

:roflmao

I've heard to catch a bat all you gotta do is swing a fishing lure around over your head. They think it's a bug and come down to get it and you snag them. Never done it personally, but the theory seems sound... :dunno

Seriously, Crumm, I am usually not horribly jealous of where you live, but every once in a while.... Well, I'm a little green right now. :thumbs

We have around 800 resident grizzlies 'round these parts. Sightings are pretty rare. I've only ever seen one in all the countless hours I've sent running around in "grizz country" down here, and it was a fleeting glimpse at that. He ran out in front of me while riding my 4-wheeler up near Sullivan Lake. I was on the brakes hard, thinking "If I hit him, it will just pi$$ him off"

Reported the sighting to WDFW since that is what they ask you to do when you see one. The lady grilled me like I was lying to her or something. She kept going back to the “are you sure it wasn’t just a cinnamon black bear?” question and asked all the relevant questions.

Flat face or dished?...... Dished
Hump on back, or smooth slope to rear?.... Hump
Black, cinnamon, or blond?..... Blonde with grey “grizzling”
How big was it?.... Way the heck bigger than any black bear I’ve ever seen, and right about the size of the grizzlies I saw in Yellowstone that one time…

It had to be a pretty comical converstaion, I wish I'd taped it. Finally, i told her "look, ma'am, I have trampled these hills more than most in my 26 years on this good earth, and I've seen black bears of all colors and sizes. I know what they look like, I know what colors they can be, and I PROMISE you that i am ABSOLUTELY SURE that this was a grizzly bear and not a black bear. I am so sure that I would stake my reputation on it, so you can stop reading the boiler plate questions off your cue card and put this one down as "confirmed"." She started laughing, and told me that the WDFW really appreciated my time. i got a little card from them thanking me for my efforts, and saying that I am a really good citizen, blah blah blah.

I just wish i could have had a little more time to look at him and enjoy him.

The wildlife in Texas does kind of suck... Deer and armadillos...

I agree, however, with your assertion that Crumm needs to continue to post pictures of the cool stuff he sees.

Crumm, very nice.
Those are good pics. Where did you take them at?
-Stouff
Those were taken on the Dalton highway about 40 miles north of the Yukon river bridge.

I really don't take many pictures as I see this stuff everyday. I know I have a bunch on my old computer and I will try and dig them up or try to remember to take a few more along the way.
