King, I have a regular Weatherguard Cross box on my truck. I think the box I mentioned for Bama would work for you if you had a Longbed, with a Shortbed, you may have problems seeing the hitch ball.

Stephen, have you considered a box like this? Or are you totally opposed to any bed box at all now?

I have a 5 drawer tool box that I kept mounted on the pass. side behine the wheel well for all my hand tools.

One like in your attachment could prove to be handy for cables and such.

i saw one the other day, he had the pas side bedside custom mod the took the large area of the lower bed side next to the cab and made a door and everything out of it so when it is shutall you see is a key lock face and the out line of some sort of large rectangle and when it was open it was a huge tool box inside, i thought it was sweet idea that one can hardly see
