Actually, it was the LACK of a turn in cheyenne. I had gone to sleep, and my driving partner was supposed to wake me before cheyenne so I could plan the next segment (I-80 towards utah). He blew right thru cheyenne and woke me up in CASPER!
Fastest way home was just to head west thru Jackson Hole.
BIG MISTAKE.
10,000ft elevation meant no air for the turbo, so PYRO was running hot, and lots of smoke before spoolup. The eastern tetons were pretty easy, but leaving Jackson hole and going over the western tetons about stopped us in our tracks.
Had to pull the plug on the 4x4 vacuum module, click the truck into 2wd low range, lock the TC, and 3000 RPMs for 2 miles to get that trailer over the hill. Lets just say, its gonna make a great campfire story.
Truck handled the 6% grades like a champ, even if I was overloaded. It was that 10% grade that kicked its ass!!
