ignorant Amsoil installation question

Got all the parts in for my Amsoil bypass install today. Hoping to get it all hooked up this weekend. I do have an ignorant question first though.... when you hook the hoses up to the oil filter cap and oil filler cap, how do you tighten/loosen them? For instance, once it's all hooked up, how do I remove the oil fill cap to top off the oil? Do I have to remove the hose?

if you make the hose long enough you should be able to leave it hooked up. new one should only turn 1/2 turn like the stock oil cap.


is there a complete kit for the 6l? i wanna install one too.

I wasn't sure if the stock cap just twisted half way or not. Good info to know (I guess I should go look for myself under the hood instead of asking the internet). Anyhow, what about the oil filter? I guess you just have to disconnect the hose when you change the oil.

They don't make a complete 'kit,' but they have all of the parts to make installation very simple. Check this page out for the complete list of parts you need -

Scroll down until you come to the blue box. There is a picture of the anodized filter caps on the right. It lists out the part numbers needed for Ford, Dodge, and GM.

Depending on where you mount the filter, you may need more hose. If you mount it to the alternator bracket like some folks have, you will have plenty of hose. If you mount it to the frame, you will need more.

at least i think it only goes 1/2 turn
even if you do have to remove the hoses every change, those fitings should last a million oil changes

There is a swivel 90 you can buy to put on the top of the oil cap so you can unscrew it without disconnecting the hose. I will look it up and post it for you guys.
