I was driving down the highway and heard a clunk hit the bottom of the truck, thought i just hit road debris, but soon enough battery light came on, no power steering, brakes were gettin stiff; turns out i blew an idler pully:eek: , bearing heated up and melted it clean off , lukily i was close to work and got it there without a hitch. I thought I am in luck there is an International Dealer right next door to my shop, but aparently on the T444E's the pullys are Cast instead of cheapy plastic and the wrong size. So had to go to a Stealership.
I wonder why Ford didnt just use cast pullys like from International:confused:
I mean it would just make too much sense to put a quality product on a several thousand dallor engine:rolleyes:

Plastic or cast would not matter when the bearing dries out and fails. Nowadays about everything is built out of plastic. There are some semi-trailers up here that they are testing some plastic leaf springs on..

Mine are steel also, I lost mine on an Interstate and cost me $60.00 for five minute service call and $60.00 for $3.00 bearing that the service man replaced. I had to furnish socket and breaker bar to put it back together. Glad I didn't loose belt in the process, no telling what he would have charged me for a new one.

I lost my idler pulley two years ago driving in downtown San Francisco. Towed to Ford. They had the idler pulley in stock and pulled a mechanic off of another job to get me on the road. Total down time 2 1/2 hours including waiting for the tow truck. :sweet ...but they charged me top dollar...-mad

You should be able to change the bearing for about $8 instead of the pulley. The bearing is very common pt#6203rs.Napa sells them.Good Luck.
