I want a Superduty Diesel

I am in the process of selling off the fleet of vehicles around the yard and want to purchase an F250 or 350 SD Diesel. I have sold the New Beetle TDI 10 days ago and purchased a Jetta Clean TDI. Yesterday I sold the 2003 Expedition and now I'm getting rid of the 93 F150 Supercab.

I will purchase a used vehicle so what do I need to be on the lookout for in these vehicles? Which engines are better or worse? Probably will not be older than a 2005 model?

If you are looking for a 2005 or newer truck, there is only one diesel motor available. That is the 6.0 engine. Stay away from the new 6.4 as it is too smogged up. Mileage is bad on the 6.4 engines.

one of my customers (that I hadn't seen since last fall) brought his wife's Envoy in yesterday...
when I last saw him, he was driving an '06 Duramax with a brand new set of Silent Armors on it..

yesterday he's driving an '09 F350 King Ranch with the 6.4..
I asked him what kind of economy he's getting out of it, and he said around 14..

which impressed me... to hear the guys in the 6.4 forum, 10 is about the best you can hope for.. so it appears either someone has a heavy foot, or someone else has learned to drive the 6.4...

I think some people are spreading bad information and WE are buying it, lock - stock - and barrel. 14 mpg is good for a 6.4!

I know you don't want one older than a 2005, but if you could find a 2002-03 with the 7.3 engine, you'd also get a good truck. However (from what I've heard and read on this site), the later 6.0's (2005-2007) were also good engines.

I only have 50690 miles on my 06-6.0 and still very pleased with it.

What seemed to be wrong with the 2004 6.0 ? Iwould not mind a 7.3 L but that old would probably have more miles that I would want. Still worth looking into though.

Nothing, if you ask me. I have over 107,000 miles without any major problems. I like mine!!

from what im seeing on the net the problem with the early 6.0l was with maintenance not the engine. Dont use cheap aftermarket crap and your good to go.. Im new to diesels tho.
