But maybe you forgot you said this in your opening post;

and then this followed it up later.....

Everybody that has the D50 drools over the D60 and wishes for the day they can swap it.

Listen I'm not calling you dumb, but right away I established I was going to do a D50. I do appreciate finding the model number for the t-case. I'm not taking the truck offroading I just want 4wd for when it snows or I'm pulling my jeep up to the trail. D60's are expensive straight up. If I'm buying a D60 its going under my jeep not my tow rig. And besides whats soo horrible about a D50. Its cheap and it'll suffice my needs

Do some research, the advantages of the 60 over the 50 are plainly obvious.

Yup just like the subject title says. Only problem is, I don't know what transfer case the F250 comes standard with. I'm gunna do a SAS using a dana 50 from an F350 because its stronger than a Dana 44 and cheaper than a Dana 60. Right now I'm just trying to price stuff out and I don't have the space to do it either

Ummm,

A Dana 50 from a F350???? What year you talking about? The only Dana 50 from an F350 would be from a 99-02 F250-F350 Super Duty.

This includes 8x170mm bolt pattern and crappy Unit Bearing Hubs, THey are very weak, and willl break.

Not to meantion it won't be a bolt up process, you will need to do quite a few things.

Not to meantion what are you going to do about the wheel pattern difference between the front and back????

:sorry But I think you might be confused.

What you want to get is a Dana 60 From a F350, The Years you want to look for is 1986-1997.

These will bolt right up ;)

I beleive our transfer cases are the BW 1356. Looks like its about $850.00 from HERE.

Well, It would depend on the year.

Some have 1356 some have 4407.

Most of the 1996-1997 should have a 4407.

The 4407 is more stronger than the 1356, and a different case ;)

Ahh, yes. The F-250's came with the 4407's in 96-97. I think I researched the F-350's and IIRC they were all 1356 from 87-97.

Uugh dude a D60 is not a t-case and its not cheap even from a junkyard. D50 is plenty strong. My truck is just a tow rig not an offroad rig

You using the solid D50? those were only available for like 1 or 2 years.. That is a Super Dootie front end. I believe there are issues with bolt pattern 6.5" x 8 (OBS) versus 170mm x 8 (SD) so be carefull there. Might want to get the rear axle as well and upgrade to the SD bolt pattern.

I also remember hearing about the spring perches being different width? or is that only on the OLD axles..

Shoot..

Anyway, good luck..

actually mike the 4407 is the extra heavy duty transfercase and thats what is in both of my 97 350s. AND red penguin as far as the d50 radar and big k are right but they didnt mention even if you did do a dana 50 You Will have Major Bearing Failures Just like ford and that is why they only used it for 3 years on a select few trucks. and then they figured out that that cost difference was easily made up when they were warranting all those wheel bearing units time and time again.
