I have also seen a B-17G. The "Sentimenal Journey". I was able to do a walk-around it one day, and they told us they were leaving the next at XX:XX time and that we were welcome to come back and "see them off"

The EAA in Oshkosh, WI has a B-17 also. If I don't have to work, I might get to work on it in April.



There are definately more than one P-51 left. This is a pic of a line of P-51's at an airshow in CA.

Maybe they have a P-51A, I think those are rather few. The P-51D is much more common. They have the bubble canopy.


Maybe also they were refering to the B-24? Those are damn scarce, there might only be one of those left flying. I myself have seen two B-17's flying in formation.

Based on one of my pictures, the P-51 had a bubble type top with the roof's door hinged on one side. I'll try to post some pictures later.

My Grandfather flew B24s in WW2 as an RLO and later in life flew helicopters as a WO. I would love to see a B24 up close, I have spent my whole life around acft with rotating blades and have loved every minute of it!!

The Air Force Museum in Ohio has a B-17, B-24, B-25 as well as the B-29 that dropped the 2nd A-bomb on Japan. It is second only to the Smithsonian's National Air & Space Museum as far as size, scope & quality of stuff. They have a couple of airplanes that nobody else has including the last surviving B-70 Valkerie

and the Tacit Blue which was the TOP SECRET test bed for every stealth airplane now flying.

I found some more pics.

This is a very early P-51A model. I guess you could describe it as having a 'fastback', but that really sucked for telling if there was someone on your butt. If there any of these left, it can't be very many at all.

Here is a P-51D model showing the 'bubble canopy' which was a huge improvement in pilot 360* visability. You'll see the bubble canopy on many fighters that followed like the F-86, F-15, F-16 and F-22.
