Geuss what reared its ugly head again today?
CEL
funny thing is last 10 or so starts the engine fires and runs fine but the deep rumble is taking longer and longer to go schrill. and just before the rumble goes awy there is a SCREECH sound like a belt slipping but its the vanes catching and squeling.
its even taking near 55 seconds to close the vgt vanes and start making that neat whistle
today the deep rumble never went away and boost stayed at 0, but i didnt go over 10 mph, we were hauling BIG rocks down the street
so my great little CEL now light came on
better hope quitman ford doesnt have a new 6.4 on the lot tomorrow :rant

Sorry about your troubles, powerboatr. Say, whats an "Armadillo" edition? Gotta be a story to that. Good luck with the 6.4, they are growing on me also.

could be the vgt solinoid...or egr valve...takes 15min.
tops to swap either of those out.

and you can disconnect each (one at a time, please) to
determine if theyre contributing ot the problem.

even if it is a vanes issue it shouldnt take more than
a couple hrs for a novice to clean 'em up.

bush your on target, vgt soleniod is working but its struggling/takes a bit to move (like the vanes are stuck or sticking) so the tech says we need to tear the turbo down and do the cleaning, i may tackle it myself, it did stop the squeaking after we did a few start stop run throughs. i cant get her into the surgeon till friday, darn oil field trucks are breaking at record rates around here, all the bays are full of 6.0s getting headgaskets :D and one 6.4 having issues from abuse in the red dirt and oil junk (front springs)

drove her hard and doulbed dosed the ps.
might need to start driving her again a bit more

Robert, you just need to Drive that thing more often. Mine is doing fine, but I get
on it real often when we are out and about. It never sats still for more than 48 hours.
I am not ready for a 6.4 just yet. I think they will have something stronger out by 2010..
