I just wanna' let ya' know why they call me ZR1PETE.
I bought this car from Chevrolet in 1993 it was a program car, It was given to a high GM official to drive and evaluate for 1500 miles.
I no longer own the car

It's a 1993 Corvette ZR1 40th Anniversary Edition Ruby Red only 448 made
The engine was designed in England and built by Mercury Marine (all aluminum)
Double over head cam 32 valve 16 fuel injectors for 405 stock horse power. This one made 550 hp on nitrous 0 to 60 in 3.5 sec and 1/4 mile was 10:99 @ 130mph

Here's A funny story..... I went to our local race track Moroso In West Palm Beach and couldn't get anybody to race me, so this guy in a Lighting says I'll run ya'. I said ok great. I told him to pick a light, any light, a leave, so he did. When he lit the the stage light, he left. Boy, did he surprise me! I laughed pretty hard.

I had a friend that had a ZR1 when I lived in Wa state. That car was nasty (for a Chevy)
He actually sold it and bought a Camaro SS when they came out. He was researching the prices for major engine parts (heads etc...) for the future and was shocked at the price tag for the replacement parts for those cars. By the time those Camaro SS's came out, they about matched the ZR1's for power.
I am a ford guy through and through but there is something about a nice vette.

Years ago, I sat in a Vette in a dealer showroom. I didn't care for it at all. There wasn't enough room in it for a person of my size, no room to stretch out.

My dream ride ever since I was in high school has been a 1970 Dodge Super Bee.

I test drove one on a used car lot when I was 16. I had a part time job afternoon and on weekends. I did all the research with how much insurance, gas, putting money aside for maintenance etc, and I could have swung it. But Dad refused to co-sign a loan.

36 years later and I still hold it against him. :nudge

ZR1 replacement parts, if you can find em' are gett'n pretty rare now, and will be very expensive.....
A catastrophic engine or transmission failure would have to mortgage the house.

Its good that you dont hold a grudge.:stir

I sat in an 06... just not practical, and My Thing.. Long Term.

Prolly a "Harley" thing :dunno

Joe

No, Vettes are not practical, never were meant to be. Want practical? Buy a minivan. Me thinkst you have possibly also met some of the wrong Harley owners.

I am a ford guy through and through but there is something about a nice vette.

Ive got two Mustangs in the corral but I wouldnt hesitate one moment to put a Corvette in the garage if I could.
