i thought maybe you were messing with me sat. but your LEDS under your tailgate kept flickering on and off on the way back from anniston, every now and then they would go OFF then come back on , happened on a cycle that was odd enough i thought you were turning em on and off. I dont know how everything is wired but maybe you got a grounding issue on the chassis somewhere.
how do you have everything wired?
hope you can figure it out .
on a side note , if you find the horns are causing your ground problems, i could be persuaded to take em off your hands :sweet

hey robert, i was messin with ya, i have those lights on their on switch. :roflmao :roflmao i forget why i was doin it, maybe to warn you of the upcoming loudness of the train horns. :roflmao :roflmao

as for the trailer lights, turns signals are of course running of the turn signals of the truck through the 7way plug, the running lights are the same, running of the trucks running lights.

all of the lights on my truck are on seperate circuits (tailgate lights, tool box lights, undercab lights)

one thing else i failed to mention, when my trailer sits for a week or so, its seems to have the problem that started this whole thread.

DP, i will try to get a cheap MM to check things out this weekend.

i think i may have found the problem, at least i hope so.

where the trailer plugs into the truck bed, its right next to the tailgate.

when you close the tailgate, its actually bumps into the plug-in and pushes it to one side (but it has always done this for over 2 years now), i gues it has kinda loosened up over the years.

so i trimmed one side of the plug off, to keep the tailgate from hitting it.

i also pinched the connections in abit on both the plug-in and the receptacle to create a tighter fit. it must have worked, because i had no problems while on the road today.

PLEASE, LET THIS BE IT.:thumbs

all the trailer lights work fine (and theres alot of them), even when i hit the brakes, the trailer brake lights go all out.
TA-DAAAAA!!!!!!

About $350 per axle plus another couple hundred for a surge actuator on a bumper pull or $600 for a electric/hydraulic actuator if you are running a gooseneck/fifth wheel.

are you thinking seriously about doing the elec/hyd discs setups???

no, sounds like a whole lot better system, to be honest with ya :roflmao , just can't afford it right now.
