FWIW ? Kinda related ?

There's a good, ongoing report on the ABC National news that talks about buying a New Car..and which New Car, Foreign or Domestic, provides for the most American jobs. Kinda explains how it all works these dayz ?

Still Sad, IMO. :(

I would like to hear the thinking thoughts of the CEO or VP of ford. Have a live chat with us. (I know it would not happen.) On why they feel are work needs to go over there. When work should be here to lift are economy up. Right now if you opened a plaint here with 30K in jobs paying starting pay at 12 to 15 bucks they would be overwhelmed with people wanting to work and they would not have to be Union plaint workers.

Sorry.. Organized Work Forces, with their Political/Legal tentacles, would choke that off, in the Courts to a point where legal costs (alone) would make it, Not Worth The Effort. (not to mention the EPA & OSHA hoops/costs.. to re-open, an idle plant) (or build a new one)

All Major Manufacturer CEO's, VP's and Management in general..know that.. thats "WHY" they go Off Shore, or Over The Border(s).

Sad :(

I don't blame you. However, I'd rather have something made in Mexico over something made in China.

My countries of choice regarding manufacturing:
1. USA
2. Canada
3. Mexico

At least all three of these are on "this side of the pond".

:usa:usa:usa:usa

I completely agree 02SilverStroke!

I know what your saying and this is part of the problem here with work and why everything is moving out of here. My wife work for a large hotel chain and they had 5 call centers in the US with about 10K people there only two call centers with about 3K in people left in the US now. They open a large call center in the Pacific islands near japan. Thats now a train wreck the wife has been dealing with, customer that are madder then hell because they don't speak English and putting on exter charges on the credit cards. The company now says that there going to look at reopen the call centers in the US back up and may shut that one down.

Its back to you get what you pay for.

I hear ya Dogman, I hear ya.

I think I see a trend starting about Buying Amercan made products & services.. I hope it sticks.

The wife and I have made a pact.. to pay more attention to that.

I politely ask any person speaking with any kind of accent... to connect me with an English speaking associate (buzz word).. most do. If they don't or can't.. I just say: Sorry, I can't understand you, and hang up. :dunno

If I get one of those "Exsperience Surveys".. I let'm know about it too.

There WILL be China built transmissions in your next Ford.

Here's How China works..

How many units do you plan on selling?
250,000 per year.
OK, you're going to build them here, right?
Hadn't planned on it, no.
Well, if you want to sell them here, you have to build them here. Using our labor and raw materials.
But, uh..
You wanna sell them here or not?
Yeah..
Don't worry about the factory. We'll take care of that.
You're going to sell how many? 250,000?

Yeah.
OK. You're going to build 400,000 and export the rest.
But the market won't support...
You want to sell them here or not?

that's how China works.

its a global economy boys. it sucks, but that is the truth. you boys are missing the bigger picture.

1. china does not care about manufacturing prowess.

they want to take over the DESIGN and ENGINEERING prowess too. they reverse engineer everything we send them to make.

2. we open our doors and sell to the highest bidder the best education in the world. then we educate the worlds best engineers here, then they leave and go home.

example- 911 scrap: guess what, the chinese and the japanese bought it all up and sold it back to us as shapes and sheet metal and cars at a profit. you think that all that shipping money could have stayed here? what did we do? instead of not sell it to them our brilliant leaders thought they might tarrif and tax the imports. DUH!
