I had the tire wear diagnosed to the unit bearing. I have it apart right now and it appears that the inner surface of the unit was grinding on the axle hub seal. The question I have is; Is this because the unit bearing was bad and allowing movement? Or is this something unrelated that needs to be fixed before I wreck another unit bearing? :dunno

Any help would be great. Thanks!

if you have a pre march 22 99 hub(i think thats the date) They are a lot more expensive. You can use a 2000 2001 hub instead.YOu will need to get the 2001 rotor also in order to do that. Thats still a lot cheaper then an early 99 hub by itself. A lot cheaper...
trust me it works fine and you dont need to do both sides this way(not at one time, it effects nothing but saving you money

I already got the early hub... I was aware of the differences and was going to swap both sides to the new version until I scored an early model timken bearing for $200. I know a lot of guys have said they paid $400 plus, but I've found many for well under $300. Amazon is your friend!
