I took the truck to get the state inspection and found out that the (L) front hub bearing is bad. Has anyone every had this issue? How hard is it to fix ect? I found the part for just under $200. Any help would be greatful.

Its not terribly difficult. Look at this Pictoral Article on how to replace it.

Two things you need to buy with the hub. A new oring and new stud bolts. The studs are near impossible to remove.

Not sure if this is the same problem, but on the back side of both, yes both, front wheels, there is an o ring that looks like they may have popped out, just sitting there loose around the shaft. So I'll tear it apart tomorrow and see more closely. If I do need to replace both hubs, where can I locate a cheap set? Autozone wanted $331 each, hope thats high. Thanks

are you talking about the DUST seal...on the inside...it mates against
the axel tubes ? they dont fit "real tight"...i had a torn one,
you might have the same issue...but they DO "turn" and fit somewhat
loose...theyre only there to seal dust (and water out).

I think that's what I'm talking about, these are not just loose, they are not keeping anything out.

The hub isn't a hard fix if the 13/16 nuts that hold the hub onto the axle housing break loose. I used an airgun on mine and had no problem but, I have heard of guys that had a ***** of a time getting them loose. Be sure to buy new studs for the hub, they are cheap and a LOT easier than backing the old ones out and reusing them. Here are the part numbers from Ford with MSR price:

F81Z-1107-AA Hub studs $3.14 You need 4
4C3Z-1K106-AA O ring $12.33 You need one
F81Z-4A322-AA Seal $5.10 You need one
F81Z-1104-BH Hub assembly(01 4x4 with 4wheel ABS) $375.70

Hope this helps
