my wonderful wife got me the HPX from Tymar and I put it in today with apparent success. Some tight squeezin' but it's in. Dale's instructions are good but could use some side notes. As he suggested I took off my orange turbo boot but getting that sucker back on was a time consuming challenge. I finally figured out to put it on the turbo first and then onto that metal thing coming from the air intake. The other thing I noticed, the instructions suggest, if necessary, to loosen the supply hose from the HPOP in order to maneuver that line to connect to port #4. I didnt need to but noticed later that if you loosen it, you can rotate the 90* fitting up a little and take some stress off the line. No big deal and I dont intend to go back and do it now but might be a good idea.

Anyone else do this on the 7.3? Only thing I noticed that made me nervous - I placed rags under the ports to catch any oil leak while working but noticed when I was done there was a semi-large oil puddle on the ground below. Probably 2 -3 cups worth of oil. With rags in place I cant figure out how that much oil could have run down. I'll watch it to make sure that was the source but suspect it must have been. If you've done this, did you experience the same thing?

Have a good new year everyone. I've been offline for almost a week so Im a little behind.

:sweet So you didn't need a special tool for the OEM line?

I didn't have that much oil leak out. I put my thumb over the hole after the plug was removed then again while installing the new JIC fitting. I also pushed down on the hose when installing it loosely so that oil wouldn't seep out. Being a SD and not having to remove a supply line might have a bit to do with not having the oil on the driveway. :dunno

I don't have the HPX now with the dual pumps. I'm thinking about modifying my setup and running two feed lines to each head.:sly

nope, no special tools. Box end wrenches and ratchet set did the trick (xmas present from me to me). I expected the supply line to dump a lot of oil but it didnt very much. I also lifted the open end so it stood upright and would keep most inside but when I tipped it over to connect nothing came out anyway. Im going to wash the motor tomorrow and watch for more drips.

I also got marathon seat covers so I can finally recover my seats! Shadow grass camo!

4 feed lines total? I need to see your setup. You've done a lot since last time you came down. When does the drag strip reopen?

4 feed lines would eliminate the need for a balance tube between the two pumps in my thinking. We'll see.

I've just done the Stealth and turbo exhaust housing, oh and compressor wheel. New tuning too!:D

Strip here's closed and it doesn't look like anyone's going to open it this year. I think Lubbock opens in March.

So does she sound a little different now with the hose installed? I purchased a HPX from Dale about 3 years ago but I have not installed the it yet.

Kevin, How many years was your 203*F t-stat laying around? :D

Peter, What's the verdict on the crossover hose? Quieter idle?

jury is still out on the effect of the hpx. Im running roughly B50 which has its own effect too so it is hard to tell. I had to help with the kids right after I was finished so I only had time to run around our city loop a little to purge the air. I listened closely and I think it might be a little quieter but in the sense of sounding a little smoother. I'll have to listen over the next few days and see.

I figure even if it doesnt make any audible difference it at least smoothes the oil pressure and that should be better on the system.

Crumm, it is a pretty easy install. It took me between 2 & 3 hours only because Im a novice and very deliberate. I bet you could do it in an hour or 2 at the outside.

Allright..... time for another NOOOB question...

Ive allready gathered that this is the oil pressure crossover line? But what is the advantage? And how much do they run?

Thanks,

They are roughly $40. The purported advantages are smoothing out the oil pressure to reduce pressure spikes and make it more even. There is an alleged additional benefit of quieting idle and/or running. I like the idea of the smoother pressures so that is why I got one. If it really does quiet my motor then that is just a great bonus.
