Ok, I got a code reader and made the c.e.l. come on again in extreme mode (hehehe)... and it read

P0238 (Turbo/Super Boost Sensor A Circuit High Input, with a 01/01 under that).

What's this? is it bad? am I damaging anything by doing this? I only have a pyrometer, can't afford a boost gauge yet.
I e-mailed Tony for a clue too. (overboost code= P0234 on my reader)

I see P0238 is~~ 0238* MAP Turbo boost sensor A ckt high input (96MY) Uses Inferred MAP signal Noise, faulty sensor

I lifted this from another website:::

Since you have a calif truck then you need to install either a popoff valve or a pressure regulator. The map sensor generates the P0238 code when map pressure hits 22psi. Set the pressure regulator to about 18-19 psi and see the cel is no longer set. If you use a popoff valve I think it could be set at about 20psi. A little experiementation is required here to get the final set point.

your sensor is probably good, all 97 calif trucks that generate more than 22 psi will get the P0238 turbo overboost code. Stock trucks do not generate 22psi so the pcm assumes there is something wrong if it sees that value.

this could be your prob no? you do have a cali truck right?

here is a pic of mine during a dyno run last year, set to 21 psi

Hey thanks, can you post where to put it in the hose circuit? Or maybe a pic further back so I can tell myself? What kind of regulator/where do I pick one up?

thats just a run of the mill compressor regulator from Home Depot
was about $20....just splice it in on the hose between map sensor
(passenger side firewall with electrical connection above ac box)
and the intake Y passenger side...sorry dont have bigger pic showing that
