Does anyone here have experience with this? Am I being paranoid?
I'm replacing the original HPOP with one of the Diesel Site pumps purchased directly from them. It mounts up perfect with no issue. The gears also seem to mesh perfect, but maybe too perfect -- meaning there is no lash/play. I'm concerned that there should be a small amount if lash. All-Data spec is 0.007-0.0124. I've talked to Diesel Site a few times and they are adamant that this has never been a problem, but I'm worried that such a tight fit will destroy the drive gear. I've done alot of forum reading and can only find a couple posts that touch on the subject and those posts were concerned about the gear lash being too much.. not too little. Conventional knowledge is that there needs to be a small amount of lash. Otherwise, the gears bind, can't lubricate, & grind. The last thing I want is to damage the cam/drive gear.
Thanks for any feedback y'all can give!!
