How to make it smoke

Since I'm new to the diesel world, I still haven't had the satisfaction of blowing black smoke out the tailpipe (although I really, really want to). Is there any way to do this without using a chip or programmer? I have a long time left on my warranty, and I dont want to void it by leaving a footprint with the chips. Could an exhaust get me the same results?

You won't get any black smoke with a stock truck. At the very least you would need a chip or a programmer. Sorry. An exhaust will help it breath and run cooler EGT's, but again no smoke.

Smoke is created due to overfueling the engine. The smoke is actually, unburnt diesel going through the system. A stock truck will not do this. Only by chipping it can you get the overfueling needed to smoke. However, if you just want some smoke of any kind, just brake torque it and you'll get lots of white smoke off the tires. It's fun too! lol

I disagree. He could pack the intake airbox full of wool blankets, or disconnect the turbo from the intercooler pipes. Either way it would smoke like a freight train.....

Slide a tube of grease up your exhaust then take her out and get it warm .....you'll have your smoke.
