I think Ford says every 60k. I could be wrong though. That's an average it really should depend on your drving habits and style of driving. If you pull heavy frequently I would change it sooner.

I don't really do any haevy hauling or pulling with my truck. Just to be safe, I do have the transmission fluid flushed and filter changed every 30,000 for a piece of mind. I figure like everthing else, the transmision fluid looses it's protecive chemistry. I figure the fresh fluid and filter can only be a plus for rotecting the 4R100.

If my trans temp guage ever goes over 220 degrees or once a year. Even when not towing you can heat up your trans to the point where you burn the fluid.

I change my about every 30k. A friend of mine running a stock early '99 that gets worked is over 200k on the original 4r100 with 30k filter changes & fluid flushes.
