I went with a friend yesterday and looked at a 2003, 7.3 CC F350 Dully Lariat that was abandoned and parked in 2005. A friend of his is looking to buy it.

The truck has 67,000 miles on it and the body, paint and interior are 95%+.

The downside is the rodents have done a real number on the wiring, it has two flat tires and a lost owner and title......long story that I don't have all the details on other than the owners couldn't afford it and walked away. The truck hasn't moved in 5-6 years.

Assuming a title could be obtained what is the most you would pay for this vehicle with all the unknown pending repairs?

It currently sits in a storage lot with where it has been since 2005. The storage lot people are tired of mowing around it and want it gone.

When I say the body, paint and interior are 95% I am serious. I love the way that Ford white paint wears and the leather is in great shape.

Push come to shove I bet you could do pretty well just parting this thing out......although that would be a terrible thing to do to such a nice truck.

The storage lot would probably want their fees and that should be enough to buy it. You would think they would put it up for auction and get the highest bid.

Here in Cali.. the Biggest thing is.. Who has it, as far as the Bid or Buying process goes.

Don't know about Texas.

Anywayz, a friend got an 02, 2 years ago, from a Storage Facility owner, in similar condition for $3500 (no D=shaft). BUT.. getting it Re-Titled & Registered was a 6+ month, ROYAL PIA.

Parting it out would be another option.. but in as good shape as it sounds.. A Sad Thing to do.

id pay 4000 for it, paperwork and state fee shouldnt be more than a few hundred, rem to title it you will have to pay their blue book valve so it doesnt matter what you get it for you will get tax for what a perfect truck value of that year would be. Been there done that, i would do it again if i came across a deal again

In 2002, we sold our 1995 Crown Victoria to Carmax after buying the 2002 F-250. Later, we started getting letters from the City of Laredo (which, of course, is a LONG way from Dallas) regarding outstanding parking tickets on the car. Evidently Carmax wholesaled the car and just handed over the title without doing any transfer. Eventually, we got a letter from a towing company in Laredo giving us XX number of days to pay the storage fees or it would be auctioned off. If it hadn't been so far away, maybe I should have checked into this and gotten the car back, but by then it was probably trashed.

The title thing would be the biggest pain to do. You can just get a duplicate title IF you can get ahold of the original owners and they are willing to help ya. Also since it is at a storage place they should be able to get a title easier since they run into that stuff alot probably. They have the right to sell stuff as long as its been on the lot for a certain amount of days. Storage places and mechanic shops have their own way of gettin titles just for this particular reason.

If you get it park it, file a mechanic lean and/or a abandoned vehicle lean on it. Somewhere after 30 to 90 days they send you the title (in most states).

I have done it here in florida as for the rats and other thing get a new wiring harness for the truck and plug and play.

Without a title I wouldn't touch it. Something is up or the storage place would have auctioned it off years ago.
