Heres how I spent my Saturday morning. The block wall in the picture is 22 feet tall. The generator is rated at 480 Volts/ 3000 Amps. Its a 16 cylinder Mitsubishi diesel that weighs 44,000 lbs. The radiator is over 10 feet tall! The pictures of the crane with the boom fully extended were taken after we set a 22 ton drycooler on the roof of the 13 story brick building in the background. This whole job is backup power for The University of Pittsburgh's Data Center.

Nice little Generator :sweet I have one just like it in my shop but it only has two cylinders and is a little smaller - still burns diesel though. ;)

This new generator is actually the fifth generator powering this site, in addition to 2 different power company electrical services, and 3 different UPS systems totalling over 3000KVA of backup power.

The pipes are 4" rigid metal conduit. The steel chokers were so tight we had problems just getting them over the pipes. With the couplings on the ends of the pipes, we had no chance of the chokers coming off. We use this method just about everytime we set a generator. Works like a charm! I also forgot to say, this generator has a 4000 gallon fuel tank, and 4 turbo's! The muffler uses 18" pipe for the exhaust! Once the muffler is installed, and insulated, I'll get more pics. We had to use a smaller crane to unload the muffler off the truck when it came.
