After some work, I got the exhaust brake off of the turbine housing. It was a real PITA. I had to cut all the mounting bolt heads off. The exhaust brake looks just like a EBPV assembly, except the valve shaft comes out the top vs. the bottom. The big assed vacume actuator mounts to the valve housing. Once I got all the bolt heads cut off, the exhaust brake housing came right off and surpisingly, all the bolt stubs then came right out too.

Now all I have to do is get some money from the credit union so I can order my D66.

I'm in the process of getting the extra bucks I need for the D66. But in the meantime, I tore the old turbo apart to find out what was up. There is a LOT of play in the shaft bearings. Why?, I don't know. I just rebuilt the center section last June or so. It ran good for a few months, and then I started having problems about 3 weeks ago. I can't figure what would cause the bearings to go to crap besides a lack of oil. Which leads to the question of "Why would the bearings be starved for oil?"

Since I have a BD exhaust brake, the EBPV actuator in the pedestal is not needed. Several years ago, I cut the EBPV actuator rod off and tapped & plugged the actuator hole. It has run fine without problems for many years. What I'm wondering is if something in the EBPV actuator in the pedestal caused a lack of turbo lubrication.

I think I may get a new non-EBPV pedestal to mount my D66 on as a precaution.

Never know what could cause that really. It might be a good precaution though.

I was rolling around under the truck tonight and have discovered that both damn exhaust donut gaskets are leaking. Guess the new style one's will be my Christmas present this year.

I've been talking to Bean about the D-66 and my leaky up-pipes. He recommends Car Quest donuts gaskets F17250. They are very inexpensive, (only about $6 a piece) are a bit wider than OEM gaskets and looklike they'll squish pretty nicely.

I read somewhere that it's not a good idea to plug the ebpv on a ebpv pedestal because it may cause oil starvation issues because of the way the oil passages are machined. I'll try to find where that was.
