I have been told that my thermostat in my '06 has less than a 200 degree themostat. With winter coming on I would like to get the temperatures up as much as possible. I have done some searches w/o finding one on a site. Does a replacement 200+ exist?

I have not facts to back this up. But here goes anyway. My 03 seemed to run hotter than my 06. Like so hot you could almost cook on the defrost vents. Maybe try looking up the earlier 6.0 years and see if the hotter one is available there. My 06 runs much cooler & I assume FMC had good reason for that change.

Have you done the high idle mod yet? That may make more sense if your just looking for a warmer truck in the AM.

Good luck.

Quite simply you can fix that very easily... put a piece of cardboard in front of the rad. cover maybe a third to start with, and add more if need be. It's an old trick on bog trucks, and it works fine with ours. Unless you're going to be hauling a lot around with you, this is much simpler and easier to implement.

Actually, I do a lot of hauling and the truck simply doesn't get to 200. I have done a lot of reading and it seems to be many peoples opinion, that are a lot smarter than I am, that diesel is more efficiant at 200 degrees. If the truck never reaches that temperature than... So I thought that I would try a warmer themostat to get the truck to run better. That is the long and short of it. I have the upfitter switch installed so the cold mornings are a lot nicer. Here is a little tip for all those that didn't know this: I was told by a shop mechanic that if I turned my defrost on before I got out at night and then plugged my core heater in that I wouldn't have to scap windows in the morning. I live in TN but so far so good.
