yes it may....if you can, have a buzz test on the injectors. also have a cylinder contribution test done, that will also determine if a injector(`s) are at fault....hope this helps

I don't think that the EGR would give you a hard start - I have seen no start issues related to FICM not just cold start - Hard start when hot almost makes me think you have a blown o ring on one of your oil rail plugs or HPOP issue because when the oil is hot it is thinner so it will take longer to build pressure.

it may be a oring because it was a sudden thing not something gradual like a hpop going out.thanks i will get the dealer to check into that as well.

well i came back home today and took it by the dealer ,have a buddy that is the diesel tech there and these are the codes that it was giving us at first
PO266 Injector 2
PO278 Injector 6
P2290 IPC ?i think that is what he said it was

then we cleared them up and then we only got the PO278 again after driving about a mile.he also did the injector buzz test and they passed along with a glowplug test to.He said that the others would probaly come back by the time i got home.he is going to start checking it out tomorrow after work at his shop at home.he said that it could be the oil line leaking or that the 2 injectors are whats giving the P2290 code.hopefully it isnt nothing major only the injectors is the problem.he also said that if it was the HPOP it should give the codes for all the injectors and not just 2.i am glad this truck is still under the dealer 60 day/6000 mile warranty.it goes out the 16th of this month.

replaced #2 & #6 injectors, oil line under valve cover and the quick connect and its still doing the same thing will not start back up after its hot, wait a while and it will crank back up.the hpo line showed a sign of leaking at the connecter the mechanic said and that is why he went ahead and replaced it too and then said it wouldnt disconect from the connecter so he replaced it.icp is also new.any other thoughts?

does it set anymore codes? how does it run when it is running? did he change the pigtail for the ICP sensor?

have your friend/mechanic check for HPOP psi when starting(cold and hot) and when it it is running(500 psi minimum to start). HPOP could be getting weak when engine is getting up to operating temp.also try checking the voltage output of the FICM under same conditions(voltage should be around 48 volts)....you will need a scanner with data logging to check these....

only sets the code po2290.he did the connector when he changed the icp when he done the HG's.the ficm was at 47.8 volts.

still think need to check psi output of the HPOP when cold and hot....just to verify that is not your problem. has your mechanic checked the IPR valve. it may be releasing the oil pressure and not letting the pressure build up when hot(this is a guess).

how does the truck run, otherwise????

the mechanic just gave me a call back and said both sides have passed the air pressure test and he is starting to think its the hpop.IRP-cold is good when hot it jacks way up

the mechanic called me today and said that he definitely thinks that its the HPOP cause you can spin the gear on the pump around 5 or 6 times and then it locks up like its binding. so hopefully this is the problem.well see come thrusday.
