Sounds like the state motto should be the saying "no good deed goes unpunished." You reduce air pollution by way more than they ask and then they tax you for your trouble.

Rather painful....

Just a quick rant.

I have noticed the places selling Bio and WVO equipment are conspicuous by their absence on these issues. Sure, they have general disclaimers about check your local laws, but none that I know of post the known laws. I made very high profile posts about the CA CDFA collection license requirements 7 months ago, yet not one kit maker is going out of their way to let buyers in CA know about it. Of course many of us never would have started if we had found out in advance all the red tape and fees involved. But at least if those who knew this stuff previously had been been up front we could have made an informed decision.

Also with all the publicity on grass roots fuel production, the state of California should at least make an effort to inform people. Nothing is stopping a tax official from posting on any and all related forums.

I have called previously and never got a straight answer. This PDF pretty well sums it up, and now it's been posted at a bunch of forums, so people at least know what they are getting into (or are already up to their eyeballs in)

Just to keep it interesting, looks like us "blenders" as the gov cosiders us, are required to file IRS form 637.

Penalty for failure to file is $10,000 plus $1000 per day you go without filing.
