I got in my truck this mornin as I always do. It starts right up as usual but the service engine soon light came on. I was sittin there idling for about 30secs then put it in reverse and give it some gas and the light goes away. Hasnt been on since BUT seems my truck is idling a little higher than usual. I drive this truck everyday and notice the little things as most of you probably do too. What could be causing this high idle? I havnt done anything different to it. It still runs fine, no weird smoke issues, idles smooth just higher rpms. Its around 800rpm roughly. Any insight guys??

Try cleaning out the EBPV tubing. Maybe something is clogged up and is throwing the computer off?

When I first got the truck I checked that pipe and the valve and the tube was plugged badly and rusted in two. I replaced the tubeing and cleaned the sensor. I checked it earlier this yr just in case and it was ok. I will try checkin it again too. Thanks for the tip JR! Easy thing to check.

Ok just checked the ebpv pipe and it was just like new inside. I was rootin around the engine bay checkin everything over and noticed a slight oil leak. I think it was my KCM cross over line. I tightened the fittings. Its the only thing that was wet with oil besides the engine valley. I also noticed a wire plug that was just hangin in the engine valley. Its a plug in with two wires on it. I found where it plugged in and hooked it back up. It was directly under the turbo and I assume it went to the turbo pedestal? It had a weird metal bail clip to hold it in place. Noticed there was also another wire just like it towards the front of the engine in the valley with the same metal bail clip. Whats that?:dunno

Today I started my truck for the first time and let it warm up for a few minutes. When I walked around the back I could hear the turbo real good through my stacks and it was making a different type of woosh sound. Kind of like a turbo surge. It would be loud then taper off. Then get loud again and taper off. Took a few seconds to go through each surge. I stepped on the throttle and it went away. Wondering if that is in conjunction with the high idle too?? What you guys think?

The connector you describe, under the turbo sounds like the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve) connection plug.

Plugged in, during a Cold start.. it restricts air from the turbo.. making for a faster warm up (EPA nonsense). Makes yer engine Gutless [to drive] until it warms up.

That's probably what you are hearing... in your last Post.. after you plugged it back in.

Some guyz unplug it. Sounds like that's what the PO did ? Maybe ?

(They've been known to stick closed.. after some time & mileage)

The other connector ? Not Sure. Look around for it's mate, in a reachable length, in the area where you found it ?

Well that makes since cause I've never heard that noise before till I plugged it back in and actually was lettin my truck warm up. I usually dont let it warm up like I do in the winter. I will unplug it and see what happens. Just weird stuff happenin since I plugged that back in. Sometimes when I back off the throttle it has a lope to it along with the high idle.

I looked at another Ford Focus SVT today. Im stuck between buyin a small gas sipper car or put more money into my truck like injectors, gp's, harness and a chip to go with my single shots or buy another car? What yall think? You think I can get over 20mpg out of my truck when I do all that or should I just buy a little zx3 Focus that can get over 30mpg?

You might get 20 mpg, but you will have to watch your right foot on the throttle. You will not get 20 mpg overall, but might see 17 to 18 overall. I bought a Toyota Corolla for the mileage. I get 34.7 mpg overall and that is over 23,000 miles in the last year. I don't drive the truck as much anymore. I would say get the car. It is a trip to get that kind of mileage.

I can get 18 if I drive it like a grandma. Im happy with that or even 14 when towing. Im thinkin maybe just find a really cheap escort or focus, non svt, and also get a cheap truck bed camper. I bet I can get both of those under 5k. My gf's 97 escort se gets 35mpg usually. I just dont want to keep rackin up the miles so fast on my truck. Its been my daily driver since I bought it. Its the only vehicle I got that runs and gets good mpg. Im gonna keep lookin for a little car though. I thought about gettin a dual purpose bike but I really like my a/c since I just turned 30 haha. Im gettin old and lazy haha
