Well I finally made the move to Charleston, SC. Got here about two weeks ago. Just got the internet hooked up yesterday. Everything was going pretty good until I picked up my truck after it was shipped from Hawaii. I don't think I want to know how it happened but somebody put a dent in the front bumper. This is no little dent, it is a "looks like you need a new bumper" dent. The whole left side is bent out of alignment it was hit so hard. And then there is the paint scratches that go down to the metal on the fender. I tried to be nice to the lady who watched me inspect the truck because I knew she didn't have anything to do with it. I don't know why I got so angry, I should have know that something like this was going to happen.

They offered me $600. Yeah...uhh, no. I had a stealership price it up and they said $1800 for those two things and a bunch of other minor stuff. I'll get the scratches fixed and use the rest on a ranchhand bumper. I guess I shouldn't be too mad because American Auto Logistics is going to pay for a bumper that I was already planning on getting anyway. I guess there is a bright side to everything.

I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Still unpacking.

I think the pickup place is part of the transport company. Anyway they offer you something up front that you have the option to turn down and get your own estimate. Anyone who takes that is making a huge mistake. You don't go to a body shop either, you take it do the dealership. They will probably charge the most. Then when the check rolls in, it might be wise to check the price at a body shop and see if you can get a better deal and pocket as much of the cash as you can.

This is a military contractor that, as most military contractors, get highly overpaid for the service they provide. I do not feel bad about getting as much as I can from them seeing that they could care less about your $40k vehicle that you spend hours opon hours doing a job you don't care for to pay for it.

Government contract movers suck something terrible. I had three major moves while I was in the Air Force. The first two, I moved myself using rent-a-trucks and made some $$$. The last one from Ft Worth back to Da U.P., was a contractor move. Stuff was damaged, broken, and missing. The packers didn't follow my instructions as to what not to pack. The jack-assed morons packed away my my shaving kit, toothbrush and shampoo. And I got charged for them "having to repack boxes" when I had to open some up so I could find my shaving kit and toothbrush which I told them not to pack in the frist place. -mad I was so pissed off, I was literallly ready to beat the crap outta somebody.

Right then and there I promised myself a government contractor would never touch my belongings again. As it turned out, I retired without moving again, so it was a promise I was able to keep.
