Hey, great forum. New to diesels

Hey guys, I am new to the site and diesels in general. I am looking at purchasing my first sd and 05-07 cc sb Truck. The site is great with lots of information. I have talked to people and generally if you keep up maintenance and take care of the 6.0 it will take care you. If you guys have any hints on what to look out for they would be greatly appreciated. welcome to sdd! did you get your name from the song switchback? im a big celldweller fan. i recently purchased my truck as well. i got an 02' w/the 7.3 l, but i hear the later model 6.0's are much more reliable than the earlier models. i would suggest taking your time to shop for exactly what you want. i looked for a good three months. i checked craigslist, northtexastruckstop.com, and a few other sites. i bought mine off of craigslist froma guy in dallas. of course i did my homework first. car fax, inspection, and complete service history were a must for me. i would suggest the same for you. i saved a good bit taking my time too. i got an awesome deal on my truck!

switchback2. Maintenance is the key, along with looks, for any vehicle. Even more so with diesels. Good Luck on your hunt.

welcome!... I have had 2 6.0s an 03 (loved the whistle of that turbo) and now an 05.... if you take a look at the july 09 diesel power mag it will give you some heads up on the 6.0 problems when using power adders or pulling some extra weight.... as dave said maintenance is the key... good luck!
