Hesitation / Surge

2001 F350 7.3L, 60K, never had any maintenance required other than the oil and filters, past year or so it ocassionally seems to hesitate or surge, most noticable at lower speeds but occurs continuously for a day or so and then goes away for a few days. It runs fine when the problem is not there and then runs like you are pumping the accelerator lightly when the the problem occurs.

Sounds like it may the the accelerator peddle. They get bad spots and can feel like that from time to time.

Codes

Have you checked for codes, I would make it a point to check codes first, I just found it easier to do that, makes it so much easier to figure out problems..if there registered
