We have had 2 diffeen code readers on the truck and neither as returned anything! I have a mechanic coming over tonight with an infrared reader to see if it might be a fuel injector. and maybe able to pinpoint which one it is as well.

The code reader I'm talking about can run 3 different tests (buzz, compression, contribution) on the injectors to see if you have a bad one. The simple OBDII scanners, like what autozone use, wont cut it. I'd bet it will fail the buzz test....

It actuates all 8 injectors at once (engine is off for this test)....then cycles through each injector. IIRC its the same as the firing order:dunno Listen for one/or more injectors that sound weak, or different, from the others.

Compression- self explanatory

Contribution test- test each cylinder to make sure each one is contributing the same amount of work as the others. This is done by the PCM shutting off each individual injector at a time and seeing how much the rpm's drop. If they all drop the same...life is good.
