I'm doing a banks quik turbo housing and when I removed the "y" pipe where the IC pipes come in I noticed a wire connecter from the fuel filter to the base of the turbo is missing and the wire is in the valley of the top of the motor. the connectors are still connected but the wire is off, what is this connector for and what does it do? Please help there are no codes being thrown and the truck runs great. This mount I believe is called the EBV. the connector goes into the base and the other end goes to the fuel filter

Thanks for the reply. If this is the water in filter plug would it cause the light to come on?

I would also check to see if you still have your exhaust back pressure valve (EBPV) installed. Did you buy the truck used? Many people remove them to reduce the back pressure after adding more HP. It sounds like the electrical connection to the turbo pedestal is for your EBPV. Can you take any pics to clarify?

OK guys,

here is links to two photos of the connections Mike is talking about. The first is a picture of the white wire connecter at the base of the HPOP/fuel filter assembly. The second is a picture of the wire connection at the base of the turbo pedestal. I have no idea why the wire at the base of the fuel filter/HPOP would be cut. Any ideas?

The wire at the base of the Turbo Pedestal looks to be part of the EBPV.

Mike,

Check a couple one thing for clarification:

1) do you still have an EBPV? Is the actuator control arm (on the passenger side of the turbo pedestal at the base) connected to anything or is it hanging out there by itself? The reason I ask is to determine if your EBPV has been removed.

The EBPV is still there and working. Another member had mentioned a water in fuel light sensor. ???? I need to get another pigtail from the dealer so I need to know what the darn thing is called. Thanks again for the help White buffalo..

OK, here's what it seems like to me. Your EBPV is disconnected. The plug you are talking about at the front of the turbo pedestal controls the EBPV piston. This is not a problem - many people disconnect it because they get a sticky EBPV, or some remove the EBPV totally to reduce back pressure & EGT's. If the butterfly valve (EBPV) was removed it's best to disconnect the plug at the front of the pedestal to reduce the chance of starving the turbo of oil. You will get a code if checked with a scanner but no CES light .

Here is a photo of where the other end of the pedestal connector connects to the wire harness. It does not connect to the whit plug at the base of the fuel bowl. You can see the open end of a connector at the bottom middle part of the photo (red circle).

The white connector at the base of the fuel bowl connects to the wire harness near the drivers side valve cover. I believe this is connected to the water in fuel sensor but I am not totally sure. I disconnected mine & hooked up the scanner - it showed no codes and the Water in Fuel light did not come on.

Hope this info helps!

So now I have two different wires that are not connected. GREAT......the butterfly on the ebpv is still intact. I still have one more question for you though. there s a plug in the "Y" pipe that you have disconnected, I know that a dodge drain plug to plug it, but what do you do with the wires?
Sorry for all the dumb questions.

Mike,

I think this is what you are talking about. Air Intakeheater delete.

Here is the link to dieselsite.com, the plug cost like $8 and the instuctions are listed on the website also. If this is not what you were refering to let me know...:sweet
