I pulled into my kids music lesson yesterday to find oil flowing out from under my trucks engine near the oil filter,or so I thought. When I inspected it using a mirror at home it's coming from a 2" plug with a square hole in it on the firewall end of my left head. Anybody know what this plug is? and how I can fix it?

Those (should) be the High Pressure Oil end rail plugs.I've had a slight seepage from the drivers side plug on our 7.3L and from what I was told at Ford there is an updated plug with a better O-ring that seal much better.

You could try and put the 1/2" drive on it to see if it'll tighten down some,it's a tough to work area but was able to get about a 1/8-1/4 turn on em which helped.

(International) 1827535C94 (new style, blue o-ring)

I don't have the part number from Ford. If you get it there please post the PN and I'll pop it in the parts list.

Oil rail end plug.
I was a ble to find direct replacement orings. They require a backup washer along with oring. The orings have been upgraded but you have to buy an entire plug to get the orings, I could not find them seperate at Ford or IH. Found the repalcement orings at an oring shop.
There is no tigtening to it. Once the plug/oring seats thats it.

When I gave this part# (Ford # 4C3Z-6026-CA ) to the counter guy at ford it belonged to the plug on the HPOP reservoir. I had to show him on the picture of the head on his computer screen. (another # I didn't get). when he looked that part # up the computer gave us the above number as a replacement for the old part.
Sooo, the receipt says I bought part#4C3Z-6026-CA!
ANYHOW, I got the new improved blue o-rings, (got 2) and I had to buy the plugs too. $7.39 ea. (plug+O-ring). :santa2 __________________
